Oud Perfumes

Oud is one of the rarest and most sought-after ingredients in perfumery, valued for its depth and character.

Harvested from the resinous heartwood of infected agarwood trees, it produces a scent so rich and complex that it has anchored Middle Eastern fragrance traditions for over a thousand years.

Our oud perfumes collection brings together the best from acclaimed Arabian houses, including Lattafa, Ajmal, and Armaf, in both spray and oil formats. Whether you're drawn to deep, smoky compositions or softer floral-oud blends, every bottle is built to deliver long-lasting wear with serious projection.

Oud Perfumes: FAQs

What is oud perfume?

Oud perfume is a fragrance built around oud oil, which is extracted from the infected heartwood of Aquilaria (agarwood) trees. It is one of the most prized and expensive ingredients in perfumery, central to Middle Eastern fragrance traditions, and widely used in both traditional perfume oils and modern eau de parfum sprays.

What does oud smell like?

Oud has a rich, woody, and resinous scent with a warm, slightly smoky character. Depending on the origin and processing of the agarwood, it can range from deep and animalic to soft and sweet. It is often blended with rose, amber, musk, sandalwood, or saffron to create layered, complex compositions.

Why are oud perfumes so expensive?

Oud oil is expensive because agarwood is rare. The resin that produces oud only forms when an Aquilaria tree becomes infected by a specific mold, a process that can take decades and cannot be reliably forced. High-grade natural oud oil can cost more per ounce than gold.

Arabian fragrance houses make oud more accessible in different ways. Lattafa uses quality synthetic oud accords to deliver the character of oud at lower price points, while Ajmal, which owns its own agarwood plantations, incorporates natural oud into many of its compositions without the luxury markup of Western houses.

Are oud perfumes long-lasting?

Yes. Oud is a heavy base note with large, slow-evaporating molecules, which is why oud fragrances consistently outlast most mainstream perfumes. Most oud EDP formulations last 8-12 hours on skin. Concentrated oud oils and attars can last even longer, sometimes into the next day.

Is oud perfume for men or women?

Oud is naturally unisex and has been worn by both men and women across Middle Eastern cultures for centuries. Masculine oud blends tend to be smokier and spicier, while feminine versions often feature rose, jasmine, or softer musk pairings.

Many of the most popular oud releases are designed to work across genders.

How do I choose the best oud perfume?

Start by deciding how much oud intensity you want. Beginners often prefer blended compositions where oud is paired with vanilla, rose, or amber. If you already enjoy darker, heavier fragrances, a more oud-forward release or a pure attar oil will suit you better. Also consider the format: sprays offer broader projection, while oils provide longer wear and a more intimate scent experience.
